Are you overwhelmed with all the options not sure where to start with a Cricut or are you thinking about buying one to make money?
If you haven’t heard of a Cricut maker then read on I will explain what it is and what it can do. Cricut brand is a very popular Die cutter with lots of different options. It’s amazing what these things will cut for you.
If you haven’t heard of these things ( I hadn’t till I started exploring crafts to make and sell).
If you’re in a hurry or just plain curious:
It’s an excellent Cricut machine and one of the cheaper ones you’ll find online. It has tonnes of 5-star reviews so if you see it for less than $170 Its a bargain so grab it. Its a fabulous deal so grab it ( for colour options and current price plus all the reviews check it out here)
What does a Cricut Machine do?
I was amazed at what these little things can do basically they cut out shapes for you in paper and vinyl and lots of other materials too. If you want the precise name it’s a Die-cutting machine.
Everything is digital so you can send info to the Cricut from your smartphone!
Basically, if you imagine it’s like a printer but instead of printing it cuts out shapes that you send it to print on lots of different fabrics like:
- Craft foam
- Sticker paper
- Faux leather
- Iron material
Is there anything it won’t cut!!!
The Cricut maker allows you access to a digital library so you can download patterns to cut out.
Think sewing library – wow no more pinning and cutting out fabric for patterns so if you love sewing then you have got to get Cricut Maker!
The software also allows you to make up your own designs to cut out as well.
Once you decide on your design you load the material onto a sticky mat then into the machine which has the capacity to cut material up to 12” thick.
Cricut Machines vs. Other Die-cutting machines
It would be remiss of me not to point out that there are other machines available not just the Cricut brand.
The Cricut brand has become synonymous with Die-cutting machines a bit like “Apple”.
I see that some experienced people have had trouble with using their own designs and uploads to the Cricut machines and if you don’t want to use Cricut Design space software then one of my favourite bloggers Jennifer Maker has some options for you here.
She has workbooks and courses on designing your own SVG
I haven’t bought any of her Cricut tutorials but I have bought some of her blogging courses and I can tell you she is an excellent teacher. There are step by step instructions and lessons to dive into and its all very well explained.
